There’s a new retail shop and bakery in town proving sweet treats aren’t only reserved for people. Over at Three Dog Bakery on Mahan Drive you’ll find “people favorites but for pups.”
“It’s so exciting” local franchisee Karin Racadio said in an interview with the Tallahassee Democrat about introducing the brand to the capital city.
Racadio said she’s always been interested in animals, her background includes pet sitting for several years. One of the best parts of her new venture — her own furry friend Lily, a yellow Labrador, can come to work with her.
The capital city’s Three Dog Bakery opened Oct. 22, but Racadio plans to host a grand opening event early next year with giveaways, activities and fun for all. She says business has been good so far with “lots of positive comments about it.”
Racadio, hailing from California, relocated to Tallahassee when her two daughters attended Florida State University. In a visit to St. Pete, Racadio stumbled upon the bakery for four-legged friends and “fell in love.” That is when she knew she wanted to provide the same unique experience for other pets and owners.

Karen Racadio owns the Tallahassee location of Three Dog Bakery, which is located off of Mahan Drive.
“I’ve lived here eight years and there’s nothing like it here,” she said. “There’s a few dog bakeries, but there’s nothing like where you can actually go and take your dog and have it be like a fun adventure for you and your pet.”
She describes the space in between Moe’s Southwest Grill and Mathnasium as a one stop shop for pet owners and a celebration destination to order custom treats. Upon your arrival, you’ll find large displays of all kinds of packaged treats from cookies and biscuits to bones along with everyday items like chews, treats and supplies.
But, eyes are immediately drawn to the house-baked treats displayed in the case and the open bakery in the back giving people a peek at the operations.

“It’s really fun for people to come in and watch the baker do her thing. She bakes and decorates. We’ve got everything you would see in a regular bakery,” she said.

The decadent dog treats include their popular “Drooly Dream Bars” made with wheat flour, peanut flavored cake then topped with peanut frosting, chopped peanuts, and drizzled with carob. They also offer seasonal treats.
All of the goodies are prepared with human-grade, natural ingredients.
“People can actually eat those but we don’t use sugar or salt,” she said, adding that the main ingredients include rice and wheat flour, applesauce, yogurt and pumpkin. “That’s what really drew me to this, was that such good quality food treats.”
Racadio is pleased with the response they’ve received so far, she plans to become more involved with the community by partnering with local rescue organizations and shelters with fundraisers and partnerships.
