  • November 21, 2025

JACKSONVILLE, Fla. – The Jacksonville Sheriff’s Office said it has arrested a man accused of shooting and killing a mother of two who was recently found dead in a parking lot outside of a gym on Sunbeam Road.

Randy Campbell, 31, was arrested in Dallas, Texas, on Thursday night, police said, adding that he will be extradited to Jacksonville once the legal process is completed.

Police said Campbell is accused of shooting Cherrish Nunley, 24, on Nov. 15 in a Mandarin area parking lot. Nunley died at the scene before officers arrived.

JSO said the case was quickly ruled a homicide by the Medical Examiner’s Office, which led to detectives quickly identifying Campbell as the suspect in this case.

Police said they also worked alongside the State Attorney’s Office and U.S. Marshal Task Force to get a warrant for Campbell’s arrest.

“The US Marshal Task Force helped us track him to Dallas, Texas, where the Dallas Police Department arrested him earlier this week,” police said. “Our hearts go out to Nunley’s family and friends; we’ll work with the State Attorney’s Office to make sure justice is served.”

Police mentioned that this case is one of the incidents that sparked social media rumors of a serial killer in Jacksonville, and used Campbell’s arrest as an opportunity to further quell those claims.

“Campbell is not a suspect in the other recent homicides in our community,” police said. “Our detectives continue to aggressively investigate the other homicides to bring justice to the victims’ families.”
