TALLAHASSEE, Fla. (WCTV) – Leon County Schools placed a teacher on leave after a student made an allegation of an “improper sexual interaction.”
LCS said this is only an allegation and is being investigated by the school system and local law enforcement.
According to LCS, the allegations involve a student and teacher at Deerlake Middle School.
Deerlake Middle Principal Stephen Mills provided an update to a concerned parent via email. In that email, Mills assured the safety and well-being of students is the highest priority.

“When the school receives any report or concern involving student safety, we follow all required procedures, which include involving the appropriate authorities and ensuring that any necessary steps are taken to protect students and maintain the integrity of any ongoing review,” Mills said.
The email went on to say that while “inaccurate information may be circulating publicly,” the school is “addressing matters in accordance with legal and professional standards.”
Mills also said that they understand how quickly rumors can spread, and they are “currently reviewing what communication may be appropriate and permissible to share with families.”
