TALLAHASSEE, Fla. (WCTV) – High school volleyball teams in Florida begin their journey to a state title this week. Up first? Trying to win a district championship.
Florida High is 18-5 on the year and looking for a return trip to the state final four. It all starts Thursday night when the Seminoles face Marianna for the 3A District Two title. The Seminoles have just three seniors but lot of young talent on this roster, but even so, they know what’ll it take to make a repeat trip to state.
“Take care of business, and not forget that your fundamentals is what’s going to get you all the way,” said head coach Glynn Barksdale. “Being able to communicate. Our motto this year is the next play mentality. This game is made of mistakes, and as soon as you make one, it’s done. Let it go. Be on to the next one. The girls have bought in and everyone wants the same goal.”
Thursday’s district championship game is set for 5:00 at Florida High.
