Miami drivers are heading into the Thanksgiving travel week paying more at the pump. Average gasoline prices in Miami rose 16.6 cents over the last week, reaching $3.12 per gallon.

On Key Biscayne, prices remain significantly higher than the regional average, with the island’s two stations still posting $4.49 per gallon.

According to GasBuddy’s survey of 1,690 stations, Miami gas prices are now 17.2 cents higher than a month ago and 2.6 cents higher than a year ago. The cheapest gas in Miami on Sunday was $2.62, while the most expensive, matching Key Biscayne’s price, was $4.49 per gallon.

Statewide, the lowest price reported Sunday was $2.39, with a high of $4.49.

Nationally, the average price of gasoline held steady at $3.03 per gallon. The national average is down two cents from a month ago and up 2.5 cents from a year ago.

Patrick De Haan, head of petroleum analysis at GasBuddy, said the country may see some relief soon. “Ahead of the peak of Thanksgiving travel, the national average has remained relatively steady… Many states could begin to see further declines in the weeks ahead, just in time for the holidays.”
