A police officer and another driver were hurt in a crash in Hialeah early Friday morning, authorities said.
The collision happened at East 4th Avenue and East 18th Street at around 12:45 a.m. and involved a black Cadillac SUV and a Hialeah police pickup truck, Hialeah Police said.
“Investigation thus far indicates that the Black Cadillac traveling westbound on East 18th Street failed to stop at the posted stop sign and collided with our police unit,” authorities said.
That driver and the officer were rushed to Jackson Memorial Hospital’s Ryder Trauma Center with injuries. More information about their conditions was not immediately available.
As both vehicles were towed away from the scene, cameras caught the SUV with a smashed windshield and deployed airbags, and the pickup had damage to its front hood.
The impact tore through a fence in front of a Lincoln Marti School and knocked a light pole onto the sidewalk.
The scene had cleared and the roadway had reopened by about 6 a.m.
