PORT ST. LUCIE – Dominick Mesiti, two years as public information officer with Port St. Lucie Police, was transferred to the Operational Support Services Division, as of Nov. 24, Mesiti confirmed recently.
He is taking over for Lt. John Dellacroce, who will begin four months of training at the FBI Academy in Quantico, Virginia, Mesiti said.
Mesiti, who was promoted from master sergeant to acting lieutenant as a result of the transfer, spent the past week shadowing Dellacroce prior to Dellacroce’s departure for training and schooling at the FBI class.
Filling in for Mesiti as the main public information officer is Lt. Joseph Norkus, who has worked as a public information officer before.
Also joining the public information office is Officer Brandon Martinez who will be working with Officer Brittany Holly.
Mesiti, who recently completed 29 years with Port St. Lucie Police, may continue in the Operational Support Services Division or may be transferred back when Dellacroce returns, Mesiti said.
“It’s up to (Chief Leo Niemczyk), he hasn’t decided yet,” Mesiti said recently.
