Florida is pulling out of the Lane Kiffin Sweepstakes and turning its focus to Jon Sumrall, according to a report from On3 on Friday.

Kiffin and Ole Miss are playing their regular-season finale as this is written, with the Rebels holding an outside shot at an SEC Championship berth. With Georgia in the clubhouse at 7-1 and holding head-to-head over Ole Miss, the Rebels will be eliminated if No. 3 Texas A&M beats No. 16 Texas on Friday night (7:30 p.m. ET, ABC). Even if the Longhorns upset the Aggies, Ole Miss would also need Auburn to upset No. 10 Alabama on Saturday night to secure a spot in the title game.

Therefore, it’s expected the Kiffin Konundrum will reach a resolution tomorrow, and Florida expects Kiffin to choose between Ole Miss and LSU.

Before kickoff, Kiffin was evasive when asked his plans by ESPN’s Marty Smith.

“Today’s about this game, 11 wins potentially for the first time in school history. That’s the first time 11 wins in the entire state by any program in the regular season,” Kiffin said. “A lot on the line and our guys are focused and ready to play. This noise thing you’re referring to, this isn’t anything new it’s been going on for weeks.

“I’m looking at kickoff in an hour-and-a-half and after that, let’s go watch Knox (his son) go beat Tupelo at Oxford High School.”

Elsewhere, Sumrall is expected to make a decision on his own future on Sunday, according to ESPN’s Pete Thamel.

Ranked No. 24 in the College Football Playoff rankings, Tulane is in the driver’s seat for the final automatic Playoff bid should the Green Wave win out. Tulane will host the American Championship with a win over Charlotte on Saturday (7:30 p.m. ET, ESPNU). Navy completed its regular season with a win over Memphis on Thursday night, and North Texas hosts Temple on Friday (3:30 p.m. ET, ESPN). If the Mean Green win, Tulane would be eliminated from conference title and CFP contention with a loss.

So, Sumrall could be locked in with Tulane through Dec. 21, or free to join a new program as soon as Sunday, depending on the results of this weekend.

In addition to Florida, Sumrall has also been a focal point of the Auburn search and could be a factor at Ole Miss if that job opens.

Missouri’s Eli Drinkwitz and Vanderbilt’s Clark Lea have both signed extensions to remain with their respective programs already this week, which means options are dwindling for whichever of the two programs among the group of Auburn, Florida, LSU and Ole Miss do not end up with Kiffin or Sumrall.
