A Hialeah teen is facing charges after authorities said he drove the wrong way on Interstate 95 while trying to flee from troopers on Wednesday in an incident that was caught on camera.

Abel Campos, 19, is facing charges of fleeing and attempted eluding at a high speed and reckless driving with damage, Miami-Dade jail records showed.

The incident happened around 4 p.m. Wednesday when a Florida Highway Patrol trooper spotted a white Honda, driven by Campos, heading northbound in the shoulder of I-95 near Northwest 151st Street in a reckless manner, an arrest report said.

The trooper tried to stop the Honda but it continued to speed away in a heavily congested area, maneuvering around traffic before it entered a construction zone, the report said.

After an unsuccessful PIT maneuver, Campos was able to exit the construction zone and started going southbound on the northbound shoulder, the report said.

Video posted by Only in Dade showed part of the pursuit, with the Honda going the wrong way out of the construction zone.

Campos turned around again and tried to blend in with traffic, then continued fleeing, entering the construction zone again before crashing into a ditch

He was taken into custody and booked into jail.

FHP officials said no one was injured.
