Tampa International Airport won best large airport, art and dining, while Sarasota Bradenton International Airport won best resort airport.

TAMPA, Fla. — Tampa International Airport (TPA) and Sarasota Bradenton International Airport (SRQ) were both recognized on a list of the best airports and airport amenities in the country.

The list of the USA Today 10Best winners came out on Wednesday, with Tampa Bay area airports among the top picks by an expert panel and readers.

TPA took home the No. 1 spot for best large airport, best airport for art and best airport for dining. SRQ took home the top spot for best resort airport.

USA Today writers included a picture of the iconic flamingo Phoebe as they described the artwork in the airport that ranges from tapestries to glass art to mosaics. They also wrote about the array of restaurants and bars to explore before boarding. The specifically mentions Ulele and Yogurtology as two places for travelers to try.

TPA won the award for best large airport as it provides access to many vacation destinations and is filled with amenities including shops, restaurants and its own on-site hotel.

Meanwhile, SRQ was hailed as a popular choice for flyers headed towards high-end destinations. Writers said it is a manageable, small airport with only 18 gates, but it has “everything travelers need for an easy transition from work to play mode.”

To create these lists, an expert panel nominated their top picks across 10 categories, and then readers voted for their favorites to determine the winners.

Establishments ranging from museums to bars are continuously recognized on USA Today’s 10Best lists. In August, a St. Pete wine bar was ranked the No. 5 best in the country and a sports bar in St. Pete was also recently named best in the country.
