Charlie Cummings breaks down his prediction and pick for Sunday’s Week 13 clash between the Jacksonville Jaguars and the Tennessee Titans.
The Jacksonville Jaguars somehow find themselves in the race for the AFC South, despite the early success of the Indianapolis Colts. At the very least, a wild card berth is within reach if they can take care of business down the stretch. Meanwhile, the Tennessee Titans find themselves in a different race, one they are awfully familiar with: the race for the No. 1 pick. There’s a massive gulf between these two division rivals, but the animosity is not lessened at all.
The Jaguars enter as six-point road favorites on DraftKings Sportsbook, while the Titans are listed as +220 underdogs. The game’s total is set at 41.5 points. Here is my preview, pick and prediction for Sunday’s Week 13 matchup between the Jaguars and Titans.
Jaguars vs. Titans Preview
It’s been a nail-biting season for the Jaguars. Out of their 11 games, eight have been one-score affairs. Jacksonville’s 5-3 record in those games has kept the team in the race. It doesn’t have any major strengths, but it doesn’t have any glaring weaknesses. The offense has been solid both on the run and in the pass. The defense bends without breaking, and forces turnovers at a high rate. It’s a great formula if you want to be competitive, but the ceiling of this team is tough to pin down.
At least we know the ceiling of the Tennessee Titans. After a disastrous 3-14 season netted them the No. 1 pick in last year’s draft, everyone in the building hoped for a step forward with Cam Ward at the helm. Instead, the team is even worse. At 1-10, they’re in pole position for another top pick. It’s a dire time to be a Titans fan.
Jaguars vs. Titans Prediction, Pick
If the Titans have any hope of winning, they’ll need to win the turnover battle. Jacksonville forced a lot of turnovers, but is prone to coughing the ball up. Capitalizing on some Jacksonville mistakes while retaining possession themselves would be massive. Unfortunately, I don’t see that being in the cards. It’s going to be another long day for the Titans and an embarrassing home loss to their rivals.
