The Chick-fil-A on Colonial Boulevard in Fort Myers reopened Thursday after , bringing excitement to many locals.
However, the traffic congestion surrounding the area remains a concern for nearby residents.
The fast-food restaurant, located near the diverging diamond interchange, shares its parking area with Starbucks and Walmart, creating a traffic hotspot. WINK News reporter Camila Pereira is there to provide insights into the traffic situation on the first day back open.
But customers say, so far, everything is running smoothly. They are happy to see it back open.
“I am so glad they are back open; I waited 6 months for this,” said Donna, a customer.
“Exciting! I’m actually here for my first drink. Never tried one before! I found it a lot easier,” added Ashley Terrell, another customer.
Chick-fil-A and Starbucks have opted for drive-thru only service to alleviate traffic headaches. As both establishments open simultaneously for the first time, Â about whether the new plans will effectively manage the congestion.
Adding to the potential increase in traffic, the Chick-fil-A on US-41 is closed for renovations, making the Colonial Boulevard location the only open Chick-fil-A in the area.
