Suspicious package sparks investigation near Miami federal courthouse

MIAMI, Fla. (CBS12) — A suspicious package found near a Miami federal courthouse on Monday morning has launched an investigation by police.

The Miami Police Department (MPD) said that they are investigating the suspicious package in the area of NW 1st Avenue between 3rd and 5th Streets, near the Wilkie D. Ferguson Jr. U.S. Courthouse in Downtown Miami.

According to our partners, CBS Miami, jurors were scheduled to resume deliberations in a high-profile defamation case involving rapper Megan Thee Stallion on the same day.

Police are urging drivers to avoid the area as they investigate.

CBS Miami said that at this time, no evacuations have been ordered for nearby buildings.
