Lee County has introduced a new parking ordinance for Boca Grande and the Lee County portions of Gasparilla Island, aiming to enhance safety and improve parking management for residents, employees, and visitors.
The Boca Grande Parking Ordinance No. 25-16 establishes designated parking zones, defines permit types, sets time limits, and outlines enforcement procedures.
Vehicles in residential and business districts must display valid permits, with enforcement starting after signage and permit distribution.
There are four types of parking permits: Resident decals for Gasparilla Island residents, Hotel Guest placards for registered guests, Island Employee and Volunteer decals for workers on the island, and House Guest placards for visitors. Non-residential zones have a three-hour parking limit from 9 a.m. to 5 p.m., and the Lee County Sheriff’s Office will enforce the rules.
Applications for Resident, Employee, and House Guest permits are available online. Hotel Guest placards will be distributed by hotels and motels. In-person applications and pickups will be at specific dates and locations in Boca Grande.
There is no cost for the decals or placards. Applicants must provide proof of residency, employment, or hotel registration. Resident and Employee permits are valid for one year, Hotel Guest permits for the duration of the stay, and House Guest permits can be short-term or one-year.
