Varsity 4 Super 6 girls basketball rankings
Rank, school, record, classification
1. (1) Tocoi Creek (4-1, Class 6A)
Quality wins: Hilliard, Jackson.
Notable: The Toros had a solid week, including a 48-38 win over reigning Class 5A state champion New Smyrna Beach. They did have a tough loss to Orlando Bishop Moore (44-27) to end the week on a little bit of a down note. They return to action on Tuesday at Creekside.
2. (3) Bishop Kenny (4-1, Class 4A)
Quality wins: Dillard, Orlando First Academy.
Glance: Great start for the Crusaders. They added a quality 52-41 win over Dillard since our last Super 6. The game they dropped (72-53) came to reigning Class 3A state champ Cardinal Mooney. Junior Kathleen Crawley (18.8 ppg, 6.6 rpg) is leading Kenny on offense and defense.
3. (2) Bolles (2-3, Class 3A)
Quality win: Orange Park.
Notable: The Bulldogs went 1-2 since our last Super 6, beating Butler (Chicago), 59-46, and losing to very good teams in Hoover (Alabama), 63-47 and powerhouse Miami Country Day (59-45). Not worrisome losses at all in the big picture. Evie Freeman (12.2 ppg, 5.8 rpg) and C Terrell McCoy (11.2 ppg, 8.4 rpg) are leading the way for Bolles. Their only local loss is to Potter’s House.
4. (4) Providence (2-3, Class 2A)
Quality wins: Spruce Creek, Trinity Catholic.
Notable: The Stallions hit a tough spot since our last Super 6, dropping three straight games to very strong teams. Those losses included a rout to Page (Tennessee), 59-19, a close one against Dillard (35-28) and Butler (Chicago), 59-40. Not a whole lot of room for concern losing to tough teams.
5. (NR) Ponte Vedra (3-1, Class 5A)
Quality wins: Episcopal, Lee County (Ga.), Orange Park.
Notable: Solid start for the Sharks, whose only loss (48-31) is to reigning Class 5A state champ New Smyrna Beach. There’s a chance to reach mid-December on a healthy winning streak. Jocelyn Hoffman (16 ppg) and Audra Davis (12.3 ppg) are leading the Sharks.
6. (6) North Florida Educational (2-2, Class 1A)
Quality wins: None.
Notable: The Eagles dropped games to Blanche Ely (63-39) and Ocoee (62-44) since our last Super 6. Not cause for concern. Ocoee is coming off a 25-4 season and Class 7A state semifinals appearance.
