Police and SWAT swarmed a Fort Lauderdale home early Thursday amid an International Crimes Against Children investigation, officials said.
The incident happened at an apartment complex in the area of Southwest 20th Avenue and Southwest 5th Street.
Fort Lauderdale Police officials confirmed their SWAT officers served a warrant regarding an International Crimes Against Children investigation, but gave no other details.
Officials added that there was no threat to the public and that the investigation was ongoing.
Authorities were seen closing off part of the complex and going in and out of a second-floor unit, while an armored truck was at the scene.
Video also showed people being detained and questioned, including a woman who was visibly emotional and wiping away tears.
Neighbors said they saw a large police and SWAT presence on the street early in the morning.
“I’m just trying to figure out what the devil happened,” one woman said. “We live in a really quiet neighborhood and for this to be happening it’s really becoming scary, you know, and I don’t like it.”
