Gulf Beach Masons help feed local families
MADEIRA BEACH — Gulf Beach Masonic Lodge No. 291, continuing its longstanding tradition of community service, provided holiday food baskets to 10 local families this Thanksgiving.
Lodge members assembled and personally delivered the baskets, which included a large turkey, pies, and all the traditional side dishes.
For more than 45 years, the Lodge has carried out this charitable effort as part of its commitment to serving the Gulf Beaches community. In 2021, the program was formally named the Bengston Holiday Basket Program in honor of Brother Nils Peter Bengston, a dedicated longtime member who led and expanded the initiative for many years. This year’s program was organized and overseen by Brothers Albert Yoder and Jim Tizzano.
Treasure Island Holiday Lighted Boat Parade returns
TREASURE ISLAND — Mark your calendars for Saturday, Dec. 20, as one of Tampa Bay’s most loved traditions sets sail: the Treasure Island Holiday Lighted Boat Parade.
The sparkling spectacle starts at 5:45 p.m. behind Publix and weaves through the scenic inlets of Boca Ciega Bay, ending in a grand finale at John’s Pass.
However, due to the ongoing construction of the living shoreline at Treasure Bay, there will be no official watch party this year.

Holiday toy drive, fundraiser seeks donations
INDIAN SHORES — Santa’s Angels has asked for our help again this year for the Holiday Charity Fundraiser and Toy Drive, and toy and food donation boxes can be found in every lobby at Town Hall.
Bring a new, unwrapped toy, or nonperishable food, to any floor.
Town Hall is also accepting monetary donations for Santa’s Angels.
Executive assistant Nadine Esposito has created the perfect Indian Shores PD mascot, a turtle ornament. The ornaments are available for sale on the second floor during business hours. We have the ornaments on the second floor, available during business hours.
Additional dune construction is ongoing.
To complete approximately 22 dune areas in Indian Rocks Beach, Indian Shores and Redington Shores, the beach nourishment contractor has placed a temporary sand stockpile along the shoreline in Indian Rocks Beach from Driftwood Sands Condominium to north of the Camaron Cove Resort (between 27th Ave. N. to 24th Ave. N.).
This is an active construction area, Indian Rocks Beach officials said. “Residents in Indian Rocks Beach, Indian Shores and Redington Shores may see some construction activity as dunes are completed. We ask residents and visitors to stay clear of all marked active construction areas and find temporary alternative routes to the beach front. We appreciate your patience as we work to complete the beach nourishment project.”
Work in this area is tentatively expected to be complete by Dec. 24.
