The man on the left has dark, curly hair and is wearing large, dark-rimmed glasses. He's dressed in a white collared shirt, open at the neck, and a dark brown vest. The man on the right also has long, dark, curly hair, and is looking directly at the camera with a neutral expression. He's wearing a black t-shirt, and his arms are crossed, revealing several tattoos on his forearms and a large ring on his right hand. The Mars Volta, which plays Jannus Live in St. Petersburg, Florida on Nov. 1, 2025. It’s been six years since The Mars Volta ended a decade-long hiatus, and the reunion doesn’t look to be ending anytime soon, with a fall tour that stops in St. Petersburg in November.

While on tour with Deftones last year, main creative forces Omar Rodríguez-López and Cedric Bixler-Zavala made a point to stage an opening set that would make the El Paso band come off as a completely unknown act for fans that had never heard of it. The six-piece spent its set performing an unreleased album of brand new material called Lucro Sucio; Los Ojos del Vacio, thus beginning one of the strangest record marketing ploys of the year.

After weeks of speculation, the album—an electronic jazz collection that is simultaneously nostalgic to the band’s roots and evolutionary for its sound—finally released to the public last spring. There’s currently no telling if the entire record will be performed on this tour, but this Jannus Live stop appears to be The Mars Volta’s first time in the area since 2001, when it played the old State Theatre a few blocks over.

Tickets to see The Mars Volta play St. Pete’s Jannus Live on Saturday, Nov. 1 are still available and cost $70.40.
