In a letter posted on the restaurant’s door, owners Patricia and Miguel Rodriguez cited “current economic conditions” as a reason for closing.
TAMPA, Fla. — A popular South Tampa Mexican restaurant has abruptly closed its doors.
Without a formal announcement, Miguelitos Taqueria y Tequila, located on Kennedy Boulevard, suspended operations sometime in late November.
The news was confirmed by a letter posted on the restaurant’s door by owners Patricia and Miguel Rodriguez, who cited “current economic conditions” as a reason for closing.
“It is with a heavy heart that we share that Miguelitos has closed its doors. After 10 years of serving the community, the current economic conditions have made it impossible to continue operating here,” it read, in part.
“We want to express our deepest gratitude to each of you — our loyal customers who supported us through the years,” the owners’ letter continued.
Patricia and Miguel Rodriguez went on to say that while Miguelitos Taqueria y Tequila is closed, their other restaurant, Miguel’s Mexican Seafood & Grill, will remain open. Miguel’s, which is also located on Kennedy Boulevard, has been in the South Tampa community for more than 33 years.
All Miguelitos gift cards will be honored at Miguel’s.
“Thank you for every visit, every recommendation and every shared moment,” the restaurant owners wrote. “We are deeply saddened to close this location, but we look forward to seeing you at Miguel’s soon.”
