Miami, Florida, Notre Dame represented in Central Florida ‘Early Signing Day’ signees

  • December 4, 2025

ORLANDO, Fla. – In a matter of weeks, many high school football players will start training at the college level. Those players signed letters of intent during Early Signing Day on Wednesday.

Jones High School had six players sign early, including Dereon Coleman to the Miami Hurricanes and Corey Brown to the Florida Gators. Other school included Nebraska and Colorado.

“It’s an emotional roller coaster,” Brown said. “I’m very excited, but I’m also kind of nervous at the same time, given that I leave, and I’m going to be on my own here in the next month.”

Lake Mary High School had five players, including Noah Grubbs to the Notre Dame Fighting Irish. Other schools included Florida International University, Harvard, Colgate and West Florida.

“Finally putting pen to paper,” Grubbs said, who has been verbally committed to Notre Dame for three years. “I knew that this was going to be it; I knew that this was going to be the program I’m going to, no matter what since day one.”

Bishop Moore High School had five players sign, including Kenyon Alston to the Illinois Fighting Illini. Other schools included Missouri State, Delaware and New Haven.

“I’m very excited to play for Illinois,” Alston told News 6. “It’s a very big family school, I feel like. They were very welcoming and all the players. I’m just so excited to be there.”

All three of these schools are in the midst of a state championship run. Jones plays Port Charlotte in Class 4A Friday night. Bishop Moore travels to Miami Northwestern in Class 3A. Lake Mary hosts a rematch of last year’s state championship against Venice in Class 7A.

Even with college around the corner, these players want one last shot at a state title.

“I knew [Early Signing Day] was going to come ever since I had committed with [Miami],” Coleman said. “The emotions got to fly out the window. We got a chance to win this game Friday, and I want to take my team to states.”
