Moez Limayem was approved by the University of South Florida Board of Trustees as the next university president on Oct. 21. Following Florida Board of Governors policy, Limayem is unable to be sworn in as USF’s next university president until the Florida BOG officially confirms him.

While it was assumed Limayem’s confirmation would be considered during the November BOG meeting, the board informed USF that the meeting agenda was full and Limayem’s confirmation would be considered at the next available meeting.

Following this, it was believed Limayem’s confirmation would not be considered until the January 2026 BOG meeting. However, the Florida BOG has recently scheduled a meeting for Dec. 12, leaving the possibility open for Limayem’s confirmation to be heard earlier than expected.

While an agenda has not been posted for this meeting, a UNF spokesperson said the university does not anticipate any details or action regarding a presidential search “coming until after the [December] BOG meeting”.

Until Limayem’s confirmation by the board, the UNF Board of Trustees cannot begin the presidential search for the next university president, per BOG policy and procedure.
