USTA Florida was well represented on the National stage again, this time at the Impact Team Tennis National Championships in Tuscon, Arizona. A determined group of Florida 3.5 players made their mark, capturing the 60 and Over 3.5 Division title.

The division featured five highly competitive teams and more than 70 players representing Illinois, Arizona, Maryland, Wisconsin, and Florida. Through consistent teamwork, strong match play, and resilient performances across the weekend, the Florida contingent rose to the top and secured the championship.

The winning team included Captain, Peter Roscia, Diane Greenholt, Noordin Sadruddin Lalani, Irene Plonczak, Kurt Kamrad, Sue Koziol, and Carlos Serrano. Each player contributed key victories throughout the tournament, helping Florida emerge as the most balanced and prepared squad in the field.

“I have been involved with World Team Tennis since its inception 25 years ago when I began playing tennis at the age of 50 with a group of players on Key Biscayne,” said the captain, Peter Roscia. “Winning isn’t the priority of playing team tennis but enjoying each other’s company. Our winning 10 National Titles over the years is actually what drives us to go back for more,” he said. “But the fun and excitement of sharing time with one another whether it be touring a city or just experiencing a new culture is most important to us.

This national title reflects the depth of senior-level league play throughout the state and showcases how USTA Florida athletes continue to excel on larger stages. For the team, the experience in Tucson was not only about competition but also about camaraderie, sportsmanship, and representing Florida tennis with pride.

Florida was also represented in the 4.0 division by another dedicated squad of USTA players: Captain Peter Roscia, Sue Koziol, Doug Greenholt, Suzanne Siegler, Maggie Nunez, and Anthony Crotti. They faced off against teams from Utah, California, Missouri, and Arizona in a strong five-team field. Although they came up just short of bringing home the championship, the group delivered an impressive run and showcased the same determination and teamwork seen across all levels of Florida’s tennis community.

Both teams demonstrated the spirit of competition that defines Impact Team Tennis. Their efforts highlight how players across Florida continue to elevate the game and inspire others to join in league and team tennis opportunities throughout the state.
