FISH of Sanibel-Captiva will host an Oral Health Outreach Day for the community — clients, island residents and island employees — on Dec. 16 from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. at its food pantry on Sanibel.
Facilitated by Project Dentists Care (PDC), it will offer free information about dental hygiene, preventive care and the no-cost dental services available through its Fort Myers clinic for patients earning below 200% of the federal poverty level. No RSVP is needed to take part in the event.
“Oral health plays such an important role in overall well-being, yet too many people delay care due to cost or lack of access,” FISH Community Outreach & Resiliency Director Simon Robson said. “We’re grateful to Project Dentists Care for bringing their information and compassion to our neighbors. Events like this make it easier for families to learn ways to stay healthy.
The public can stop by to chat with the PDC representatives and learn about the services that they provide, including emergency dentistry, extractions, fillings, dentures and partials, and more.
Adults will receive a complimentary oral healthcare gift bag; parents can pick up one for their children.
PDC is a volunteer-based program that provides basic dental care — including cleanings, exams, fillings and emergency services — to underserved individuals throughout Lee County. By connecting people with affordable, high-quality care, the organization helps restore comfort, confidence and overall health for those most in need.
FISH reported that the event will connect the community with critical resources and services that promote health and wellness. By partnering with organizations like PDC, it continues its mission of helping individuals and families access the care and support they need to thrive.
