Florida is set to hire Georgia Tech offensive coordinator Buster Faulkner, according to multiple reports.

ESPN’s Pete Thamel was first to break that news on Thursday afternoon. Faulkner has been a big part of Georgia Tech’s success under Brent Key and has been highly-sought after for multiple other jobs over the past 2 offseasons.

Faulkner also has previous experience in the SEC as he was the quarterbacks coach at Georgia from 2020-22.

Sources: Florida is expected to hire Buster Faulkner as the school’s next offensive coordinator. He’s the successful OC at Georgia Tech, who brings SEC experience from to stints at Georgia.

According to Thamel, Georgia Tech was willing to match Florida‘s salary offer to Faulkner in order to keep him in Atlanta. Instead, Faulkner is headed to Gainesville to be the offensive coordinator on Jon Sumrall‘s first Florida staff.

Georgia Tech averaged over 7 yards per play this season, ranking in the top-10 nationally in that category. The Yellow Jackets accomplished that despite dealing with injury issues with quarterback Haynes King throughout the season.

It’s unclear at this time what this hire will mean for Florida’s chances at keeping key offensive players like DJ Lagway and Dallas Wilson in 2026.

Florida has not yet officially announced this hire.
