A Rollins College student was arrested Wednesday after a rifle and ammunition were discovered on school property, according to an arrest affidavit.A campus safety official told Winter Park police officers that a student, Constantine Demetriades, 21, purchased ammunition online to be delivered to Rollins College for him. This led to an administrative search of Demetriades’ room. After a search was conducted, officials found an AR-15 under the left side of the bed. They also found an unsecured black carrying case along with one loaded magazine and five empty magazines.Demetriades told deputies the weapon was legally purchased in New Jersey. He explained to officials that he had traveled to New Jersey with the rifle during Thanksgiving break and brought it back with him. Demetriades said he intended to drop it off at a friend’s off-campus residence, but he decided to come straight to campus instead because he was late and tired. Demetriades stated he did not have any bad intentions, according to the affidavit. He is currently a senior and has been at Rollins College for four years.Based on the evidence, Demetriades was placed under arrest and faces a charge of possession of a firearm on school property.
