The Hialeah City Council approved a budget for the next fiscal year late Thursday.
The budget outlines expenditures totaling more than $470 million, a number that includes $18 million towards federal, state and local grants. The next fiscal year starts in October.
The general fund also grew to $222.2 million, a 5% increase from the year before.
But the rebate for property owners remains unsettled.
The mayor’s recent suggestion was a $200 rebate, but there are concerns that too much money could compromise some projects or services.
If approved, more than 32,000 homeowners could benefit from the rebate.
