A building at Lockheed Martin’s Orlando facility was evacuated before noon on Wednesday, the company confirmed to WESH 2. Orange County Fire Rescue responded after smoke appeared in one of the buildings. “We are aware of the situation at our Sand Lake Road facility and are working closely with local officials. The impacted area has been evacuated, and all employees are safe,” the company said. Chopper 2 was over the facility where several first responder vehicles were in the complex and people in what appeared to be hazmat suits were walking toward a building. Lockheed tells WESH 2 that two people were working in the building, and they were not injured. Emergency crews cleared the scene and the evacuation was lifted. It’s unclear how many people were evacuated, why hazmat suits were used and what caused the smoke.
