FSU business professor discusses impacts of Netflix deal with Warner Bros

  • December 6, 2025

TALLAHASSEE, Fla. (WCTV) – Netflix made a blockbuster move that could change how people watch movies and television.

The streaming giant announced plans today to buy Warner Bros. Discovery’s Studio and streaming assets for over $82 billion.

This huge deal, if approved by federal regulators, would give Netflix control of popular franchises like Harry Potter and the DC universe.

With over 300 million subscribers, Netflix would further dominate the streaming world, potentially impacting competitors like Disney and Amazon. This could mean a lot for consumers.

FSU business professor David King said to expect some changes in where you stream, as well as changes in your wallet.

“Where you get your entertainment per month will change,” King said.

While Netflix says it will continue theatrical releases, the full impact on the moviegoing experience remains to be seen.
