TALLAHASSEE, Fla. (WCTV) – Dozens of children and families gathered at Fairview Middle School Saturday for the launch of local author and former WCTV employee Shonda Knight’s newest book.
Knight debuted her second children’s book, “My Omnilife: I Can Be Anything,” and gave away 115 copies to kids, along with drawstring backpacks.
Her first book, “My Omnilocks: Hair with Endless Looks,” was released last year and encourages young girls to embrace and love their hair. Knight said her newest title is meant to inspire young boys.
“The last line of the book says it doesn’t matter where I’m from, there’s no limit to who I can become, and that’s really the message,” Knight said. “No matter what your circumstances are or your background, you can put your mind to it, you can be it.”

The event also featured men from the community who took the stage to share messages of encouragement with the boys in attendance.
“One of the big moments for me was having so many men in our community come out and let little boys see real-life examples of who they can become,” Knight said.
Local youth organizations were present to provide resources for families, and attendees enjoyed pizza and live performances throughout the celebration.
WCTV’s own Lanetra Bennett served as the event’s emcee.
