There’s no need to shout, there’s no need to cry. There’s no need to pout and I’m telling you why… Gulfport Police are coming to town!

The Gulfport Police Department has opened its annual Operation Santa program, continuing a 35-year tradition of supporting underprivileged children. The initiative depends on community generosity, and officers are urging residents, businesses, and civic groups to help meet this year’s need. Moreover, organizers say every donation directly benefits Gulfport families.

Gulfport Police’s Operation Santa

Each year, Gulfport residents help fill the department’s “Santa Room,” allowing dozens of children to enjoy a joyful holiday season. Therefore, officers hope the community will once again show strong support.

Operation Santa accepts new and unwrapped toys, gift cards, and monetary contributions. Residents may drop off donations at the Gulfport Police Department (2401 53rd St. S.). Officers emphasize that even small contributions help create meaningful holiday experiences for local children.

Families seeking assistance can apply now through Dec. 15, Monday through Friday, from 8:30 a.m. to 3 p.m. at the police station.

To register, the head of household must bring photo identification, proof of Gulfport residency, and the names and ages of all children in the home. Furthermore, Operation Santa provides gifts only for children ages newborn through 10.

This year, the program will not offer home deliveries. Instead, families must pick up their gifts at the Police Department between Dec. 18 and Dec. 19. According to organizers, this process streamlines distribution and ensures families receive items before Christmas. As a result, parents can prepare for the holiday without last-minute delays.
