St. Pete PD says the officers found the dead birds in the suspect’s garbage pail and noted one of their heads was dismembered.
ST. PETERSBURG, Fla. — A St. Pete man is facing charges after an arrest affidavit reveals he “tortured” and killed his pet birds.
Officials say this happened after 9 p.m. Saturday in the area of 21st Street South when two St. Pete police officers responded to the home of 39-year-old Bradley Walters.
Walters stated to the police that he intentionally grabbed one of the one bird from the air before squeezing and shaking it until it died, the arrest records said.
Authorities say Walters also admitted to grabbing a second bird and did the exact same thing, killing it and then dismembering the pet.
St. Pete PD says the officers found the dead birds in Walters’ garbage pail and noted one of their heads was dismembered.
Prior to admitting to killing his birds, the affidavit says Walters resisted the officers by locking his arms, pulling away from them, pushing them to the side and making them fall while they were trying to arrest him.
Walters admitted that he “tussled” with the officers, according to the records.
Walters is charged with resisting an officer with violence and animal cruelty.
