FORT PIERCE — Fort Pierce has changed in countless ways over the past four decades, but through it all, one constant has remained — a little haven of beauty, talent, and community known as Andrea’s Place.

At age 12, Andrea Kohler knew she enjoyed styling hair and she was part of the first graduating class from high school with a dual enrollment degree from Wilson Tech in Long Island New York.

Then, in 1967 her mother moved her family to Fort Pierce. Kohler followed and continued her career here, opening Andrea’s Place in 1985.

Kohler became known as the “it” girl who knew how to do the “Sassoon haircut.”

To this day, Andrea’s Place stylists keep up with the trends, while maintaining a classic aesthetic.

After 23 successful years, Andrea moved her salon to 800 Virginia Avenue, where it continues to thrive today.

In 2012, Kohler’s granddaughter Brittany McClellan stepped in to carry forward the family legacy with fresh creativity and passion, while maintaining an old school hospitality.

“People come to Andrea’s Place as a client, but leave like we are part of the family. We are relatable and we are honest. People appreciate that honesty,” McClellan said.

This is not only a testament to the remarkable stylists at Andrea’s Place, but to the generations of clients who have trusted them with their hair, their stories, and their milestones.

What began as one woman’s dream has grown into a Fort Pierce institution rooted in tradition, strengthened by community, and always evolving with style.
