Roberto Perez Rivera received three consecutive life sentences for two counts of second-degree murder with a firearm and one count of first-degree burglary while armed. He was also sentenced to 60 days for petit theft following his conviction in November.
Assistant State Attorney Hamid Hunter from the State Attorney’s Office Homicide Unit prosecuted the case. Rivera murdered a man and a woman in their Lehigh Acres home with their 6-month-old child present.
The Lee County Sheriff’s Office responded to the scene on October 27, 2019, after a relative found both victims deceased. The female victim was discovered with head trauma in the master bedroom, while the male victim was found in the master closet. The toddler was unharmed behind a dresser.
