After a stumble in the final CFP rankings, Texas A&M still has a silver lining: for the first time in program history, they will host a CFP game at Kyle Field.
Losing to Texas was especially tough for the team, as it was the only milestone from last season that was achieved and ultimately knocked them out of the SEC title game. You can debate whether that was beneficial or detrimental, but it doesn’t erase the sting of losing to a rival. However, unlike last season, the ultimate prize is still within reach, and it begins with the Miami Hurricanes on December 20.
Among all the first-round playoff matchups, Texas A&M vs. Miami is the most compelling contest on the schedule. Both teams defeated a shared opponent, Notre Dame, who missed the CFP partly due to those losses. Unfortunately, they drew the early kickoff, which means no night game at one of the most electrifying college football venues in the nation.
Kickoff is set for 11 a.m. and will be broadcast on ABC. You can stream Texas A&M vs. Miami live on FUBO (free trial) or ESPN.

This game has all the characteristics of being a near replica of the Texas matchup for the Aggies. Miami is strong in the trenches and will present Marcel Reed with challenges. They are also a well-balanced team capable of both running and passing the ball effectively. However, unlike the Longhorns, Miami quarterback Carson Beck is not as athletic as Arch Manning, and the Aggie defensive line should be able to generate more pressure on him.
If all factors are equal, I would lean toward A&M because they are competing at Kyle Field, where they traditionally perform well. If A&M can avoid self-inflicted mistakes and play with the consistency they showed for most of the season, they should manage to secure a narrow victory in the opening round of the CFP.
Prediction: 27-24 Texas A&M
