GAINESVILLE, Fla. (WCJB) – The CEO of the Florida Thoroughbred Owners Association announced plans to develop a racetrack in Marion County.
Lonny Powell announced at a symposium in Arizona, saying the association is partnering with attorney John Morgan and other investors.
The plans indicate a willingness to let owners of Gulfstream Park decouple live racing from their gambling operations, which would leave Florida without an active racetrack.
