Allianz Commercial, part of global insurer Allianz Group, will launch an office in Brickell on Feb. 9 as its Latin America hub, Commercial Managing Director for Latin America David Colmenares said.
A Miami location would strengthen Allianz Commercial’s ties to Latin America as well as expand its presence in the region. A news release said the office will build on existing business in core markets like Brazil, Mexico, Argentina and Colombia while expanding reinsurance across different sectors into other Latin American markets, including Chile, Peru, Ecuador and Panama.
“Basically, Miami is the optimal location for our Latin America operations for several compelling reasons,” Mr. Colmenares said. “Miami is the leading center for Latin American, Caribbean reinsurance and insurance business, providing access to the regional market ecosystem… It’s the gateway between North and South America.”
He added that the city’s talent pool is ideal for serving Allianz’s regional market.
“Miami offers a multilingual, skilled workforce with deep understanding of Latin American business culture and insurance expertise,” he said, “so that’s essential for serving our diverse regional market.”
The time zone advantage and Miami’s business infrastructure also make it appealing. Mr. Colmenares said the robust infrastructure, stable regulatory environment and concentration of global brokers, insurers and reinsurers here creates “a dynamic environment for collaboration and growth.”
“It’s an additional strategic presence in the Americas,” he said. “It’s a commitment to long-term investment in the region, and it’s enhancing our technical expertise and service delivery within the region for all of our stakeholders.”
