Southwest Florida International Airport will conduct an Emergency Training Exercise on Wednesday, Dec. 10, 2025, from 9 a.m. to noon.
The exercise will include emergency vehicles and activity on the North Ramp, which may capture the public’s attention.
The Federal Aviation Administration requires commercial airports to perform a full-scale emergency exercise every three years.
The Southwest Florida Health Care Coalition website says it is accepting volunteers to role-play as an injured passenger.
Sirens and flashing lights filled a scene at the Naples Airport on Tuesday morning, but residents had no need to worry. It was not a real emergency.
Emergency crews participating in a similar training exercise at Naples Airport earlier this year emphasized that being prepared for any situation is crucial.
There will be no road closures or impact to travelers during the exercise.
Signage will be posted in the terminal and on airport roadways to inform travelers and airport visitors.
