A person was taken to the hospital after divers pulled them from a canal in southwest Miami-Dade Wednesday morning, officials said.

The incident happened just before 10 a.m. in the area of Southwest 188th Street and Southwest 180th Avenue in Perrine.

Miami-Dade Fire Rescue officials said 10 units responded to a call about a person in distress in the water.

A person was taken to the hospital after divers pulled them from a canal in southwest Miami-Dade Wednesday morning, officials said.

“When crews arrived, they quickly deployed divers, who entered the water and began searching the area. The patient was located and brought safely to shore,” fire rescue said.

The person was treated at the scene and taken to a hospital.

Officials haven’t identified the person or said how they ended up in the canal.
