TALLAHASSEE, Fla. (WCTV) – Construction is well underway for a 158-unit affordable housing complex in Tallahassee.
The new complex sits at the corner of Lake Bradford Road and Kissimmee Street. The apartments are intended for people whose income is at or below 80% of the average median income, according to Tallahassee Commissioner Curtis Richardson.
“We have to make sure housing is affordable for individuals and families at various income levels,” Richardson said.

Of the 158 units, Richardson said 39 will be designated for people who are transitioning out of homelessness and for people who are at risk of becoming homeless.
City officials reported investing just more than $1,000,000 into the development of this project.
Having a place to call home can also have lasting impacts on children, Richardson said.
“Them learning and having a stable home to come home to every day after school is extremely important, and does a lot to encourage proper development among those young people,” the commissioner said.
The complex is expected to be finished by the summer of 2026.
