Barbara Rebeor, Science Department Chair at Harns Marsh Middle School, has been chosen as a 2025–2026 Department of Defense STEM Ambassador. This prestigious honor recognizes only 30 educators nationwide.
“I believe strong science teaching can completely change a student’s future,” Rebeor said.
She emphasized the importance of hands-on STEM challenges in fostering bold thinkers and resilient problem solvers.
Rebeor, a representative for the National Science Teaching Association, was selected through a rigorous national application process. The DoD STEM Ambassador Program, managed by TGR Foundation, provides educators with funding and collaboration opportunities to advance STEM education.
A 2013 Golden Apple Teacher and the 2025–2026 District Teacher of the Year, Rebeor has more than two decades of experience in science education. Her focus is on ensuring equitable, hands-on science learning for all students, especially those historically underrepresented in STEM.
As an Ambassador, Rebeor will collaborate with STEM leaders nationwide, contribute to curriculum development, and share best practices at conferences, including the 2025 NSTA National Conference in Anaheim. Her recent trip to Washington, D.C., supported national efforts to expand high-quality STEM learning.
Rebeor has been recognized by NSTA for her leadership and commitment to science education. “Barbara Rebeor represents the very best,” NSTA highlighted.
Her work embodies the mission to inspire curiosity and ensure every student sees a place for themselves in STEM.
