An armed man who was wanted in a juvenile sex battery case barricaded himself in Hialeah on Thursday before he surrendered to police after SWAT and crisis negotiators responded, police said.
The incident happened at West 8th Avenue and 81st Street, as officers were attempting to serve a warrant at around 8 a.m., Hialeah Police officials said.
The 60-year-old suspect, Jose Luis Antigua Martinez, was being served the warrant for sexual battery of a minor, police said.
As officers arrived, police said “the subject armed himself and retreated to the rear of the location.”
Video showed a massive police presence outside a business, as SWAT officers in tactical gear surrounded the building with an armored vehicle.

Police said they received a tip that the suspect had been sleeping at the warehouse for the past few days.
They haven’t said what exact charges Martinez faces.
