One youth died and another was wounded along with a man in a triple shooting that Jacksonville police say was drug-related.
The Jacksonville Sheriff’s Office described the two youths as “juvenile males.” Police didn’t release the names or ages of any of the three victims shot about 9 p.m. Dec. 12 in the 2200 block of Mareeba Drive E. at Wahine Drive N. in the Sandalwood neighborhood.
Police responding to a report of a person shot found the three victims. One youth with multiple gunshot wounds was lying in the roadway. Nearby, the man with multiple gunshot wounds was found inside a car. Also nearby was the second youth, who had a single gunshot wound, Sheriff’s Office Sgt. M. W. Highfill said in a news release.

Ambulance
Highfill said all three were rushed to the hospital by Jacksonville Fire and Rescue Department first responders. One youth died a short time later, he said.
Information about the condition of the surviving victims wasn’t available immediately Dec. 13.
“What we know now is that all of the victims were engaged in some sort of drug transaction, which deteriorated into the parties exchanging gunfire,” he said in the news release.
Highfill said police didn’t know the relationship between the three victims.
“This is believed to be an isolated incident, and there is no danger to the public. Multiple witnesses are being interviewed, and they are cooperating with the investigation,” he also said.
