A handmade, from-scratch bakery in Cape Coral brought a taste of old-world holiday magic just in time for Christmas.
Owned by Tom and Radka Nozack, the local bakery rolled out festive treats that went beyond the usual sugar cookies and gingerbread. Everything inside the shop was made from scratch, and that started early in the morning.
“We make everything from scratch. My wife comes in four hours early every day to make all the bread and pastries,” Tom said.
Everything at the bakery was truly handmade, down to the smallest details. Even the vanilla used for the icing on the cinnamon rolls was hand-scraped, and the focaccia bread was made entirely by hand from start to finish.
For the holidays, the bakery offered a lineup of specialty items, including honey cake, Christmas cookies, poppyseed rolls, mixed berry cake rolls, nut-filled rolls, and other European-inspired desserts that many customers had never tried before.
The bakery itself was still fairly new, opening just over a year ago. Tom and Radka’s journey to Cape Coral started overseas. The couple migrated from Poland to Chicago before eventually settling in Southwest Florida.
“I grew up coming to Cape Coral and just knew I wanted to move here one day,” Tom said.
Before opening the bakery, Tom worked in the corporate world, and Radka was a teacher. Eventually, they decided it was time for a change.
“We just knew we wanted to do something else. So Radka decided to start baking,” Tom said.
That leap of faith turned into a bakery built on long mornings, family recipes, and a lot of butter. The Nozacks said the holidays felt like the perfect time to share what they loved most.
For those unfamiliar with European-style pastries, Tom had one piece of advice: “If you’re curious about our food but you’ve never tried it, come on in, and we can show you just how good our pastries can be,” he said.
The artisanal bakery was open Tuesday through Saturday, giving Cape Coral residents plenty of chances to bring home something sweet, warm, and made with heart for the holidays.
