Two unrelated shootings took place overnight in Tallahassee on Dec. 15, police say.

Here’s what happened, according to a incident report sent via email:

Early in the afternoon at 4:32 p.m., at the 700 block of Appleyard Dr., a man was sitting in a car with another individual when they were approached by two men who opened fire. One was shot in the leg; police didn’t say which one.

The victims fled the scene and went to an emergency care center with injuries that were determined to be non-life threatening.

Six hours later, officers responded to the Circle K at 433 Crawfordville Highway for a victim suffering from a non-life-threatening gunshot wound to the hand.

The actual shooting was determined to have taken place in the 3800 block of Sunburst Loop.

Initial findings showed that the victim was sitting in his vehicle when the suspect, who was known to the victim, pulled up behind him in a U-Haul truck. The suspect banged on the window and tried to pull the driver out of his vehicle. He shot the victim in his left hand and fled the scene.

When officers canvassed the area, they located the U-Haul with evidence connected to the shooting. The victim was taken to a local hospital.

These incidents mark the 56th and 57th shooting in the capital city and county. So far this year, 20 people have died and 39 people have been injured, according to a Tallahassee Democrat analysis of gun violence.
