Jacksonville crews are working to fix thousands of gallons of spilled sewage in the city

JACKSONVILLE, N.C. (WITN) – Around 129,000 gallons from a broken sewer main located on Highway24/Lejeune Boulevard was discharged into Scales Creek, according to the City of Jacksonville.

It happened Saturday, and city crews worked throughout the evening and will continue work over next several days to fix the issue.

The city asks that motorists slow down and use caution on Lejeune Boulevard to allow crews room to work.

The Division of Water Resources was notified of the event on Saturday and is reviewing the matter. For more information contact the City of Jacksonville at 910 938-5249.
