Charlotte County Fire and EMS helped save a family and a dog from a house fire.
Officials responded to a fire on Coulton Avenue at 8:44 p.m. Wednesday.
A dog was reportedly trapped inside the home.
Firefighters saw light smoke and found the dog inside. They used pet oxygen masks to treat the dog for smoke inhalation.
The dog was then taken to a veterinary clinic for further care. Two people were evaluated but declined transport.
The fire started accidentally in the kitchen. The American Red Cross is assisting the displaced family.
