FORT PIERCE, Fla. (CBS12) — New details are expected to be released on Thursday morning in a homicide and suspected arson after a man was found dead inside a fire-damaged home in Fort Pierce.
The St. Lucie County Sheriff’s Office will hold a press conference at 10:45a.m. on Dec. 18 after the body of 51-year-old Antwan Lamar Daniels was discovered in a fire-damaged home on South Market Avenue on Nov. 28.
The sheriff’s office confirmed the cause of death was blunt force trauma; earlier theories of gunshot wounds were dispelled by the autopsy. Sheriff Richard Del Toro has emphasized that investigators believe the attack was targeted, likely involving someone Daniels knew, as evidence suggests a personal dispute preceded the killing. The same person may also have deliberately set the fire, the sheriff’s office believes.
Thursday’s briefing with the sheriff is expected to release critical updates.

Multiple units— Special Investigations and Criminal Investigations — are collaborating on the case. Investigators still working to piecing together the timeline and motive, which they say stem from a violent confrontation inside the home.
The press conference will be livestreamed, and we will provide full coverage. Anyone with information is urged to contact the St. Lucie County Sheriff’s Office at 7724627300 or Treasure Coast Crime Stoppers at 8002738477.
