TALLAHASSEE, Fla. (CBS12) — Governor Ron DeSantis has appointed a new member of the Palm Beach State College Board of Trustees.

On Friday, DeSantis appointed Dave Kerner to the Palm Beach State College District Board of Trustees. Kerner is currently serving as the Executive Director of the Florida Department of Highway Safety and Motor Vehicles.

Kerner was previously elected as a member of the Florida House of Representatives, representing District 87, and served as a Palm Beach County mayor and commissioner.

DeSantis’ office says he began as a law enforcement officer in 2005 and served with the City of Alachua Police Department.

Kerner is no stranger to Palm Beach State College, having previously attended the institution. He later earned his Juris Doctor degree from the University of Florida.
