TALLAHASSEE, Fla. (WCJB) – Governor Ron DeSantis announced more than $300 million in funding for infrastructure projects.
The announcement included 37 projects, more than a quarter of them in North Central Florida.
Suwannee County is getting the biggest portion of the money in North Central Florida; more than $38 million to build a special needs emergency shelter.
Live Oak is getting $3,895,500 to build a 100,000-gallon water storage tank and water line loop.
$5,951,403 is for road reinforcement in Bradford County.
Santa Fe College is getting $5 million to upgrade the campus gymnasium due to roof damage from storms.
Union County is getting about $1.4 million to build a communications tower and upgrade the emergency dispatch system.
For Lake City, almost $1.8 million to replace a hangar at the airport damaged by Hurricane Idalia.
Columbia County gets $2 million to build a rail track for the North Florida Mega Industrial Park.
The Keystone Heights Airport Authority will receive $2,950,450 for a runway extension at the airport.
Putnam County is getting $3 million for infrastructure at the landfill.
Funding for these projects comes from the state’s rural infrastructure fund, as well as a grant for disaster recovery.
