Five-star offensive lineman Mark Matthews is one of the top prospects in the 2027 class, and he’s heavily on FSU’s radar. He was extended an offer back in February, but he’s only been on campus once, which took place in April.

The 6-foot-6, 300-pounder is set to have a busy schedule in terms of visits during the winter and spring. Of course, this will include FSU, thanks to several coaches on the staff leaving good impressions on him.

“It’s coach Hand,” Matthews said via 247Sports. “Coach Hand is a good coach. And coach Norvell, and the OC (Gus Malzahn) they have, he’s a good OC. Coach Norvell, he’s a great coach. Coach Hand, he’s another great coach. I was able to see him during spring practice and I like the way he coaches.”

Matthews is the No. 2 recruit nationally and the No. 1 offensive tackle according to the 247Sports composite rankings. They also have him listed as the No. 1 prospect in the state of Florida.

Florida State is just one of a plethora of schools that Matthews will be seeing over the next few months. Florida, Miami, Georgia, Ohio State, Oregon, Texas A&M, Auburn, Tennessee, LSU, Nebraska, Notre Dame, and Alabama are also on his visit list.

The plan is for Matthews to schedule around six or seven official visits once the spring is over. So, FSU needs to roll out the garnet and gold carpet the next time Matthews arrives on campus.
